Report Shows that Recent DDoS Attacks Reach Critical Levels in 14 Seconds
DDoS attacks reach critical levels within a mere 14 seconds, according to the recent analysis conducted by Link11 on Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. The report reveals a 70% increase in DDoS attacks, with attacks reaching critical levels in 14 seconds on average, compared to 55 seconds in 2022.
Furthermore, two-thirds of the observed traffic is machine-based, indicating the prevalence of bot activity.
The escalating geopolitical tensions worldwide have contributed to the rapid surge in DDoS attacks, particularly targeting critical infrastructure, public institutions, and political organizations. These attacks are often orchestrated by organized groups driven by political motives.
The report highlights the heightened security risks posed by web applications and APIs, especially when critical vulnerabilities in unpatched software are present. The European Union’s requirement for Apple to open its interfaces to third-party providers further emphasizes the urgent need for enhanced security measures in this area. Additionally, the increasing threat posed by AI-driven bots presents significant challenges, with projections indicating a 131% surge in online bot fraud by 2027.
