Backups are essential before you make any major changes. If something is bound to go wrong in a way that corrupts or deletes important data, having multiple backups helps you easily restore your Magento website. Follow the instructions below on how to create a Magento backup.
Login to the Magento Administration Panel.
Under the System menu, select “Tool”, and then click on “Backups”.
Click on the “Create Database Backup”.
A warning box will pop up. Click on the “OK” button to proceed.
It is recommended to enter the backup name/date and check on the box Put store on the maintenance mode while backup creation, then click the “OK” button.
Download the Backup to your computer.
